The study's count, before taxes and fees: in the October 3, 2026 snapshot, at 11 of the 17 Rome hotels with a price, the cheapest listing was 5% or more below the going rate. The cheapest site there: Kiwi.com at 3, Agoda at 1, Amimir.com at 1, Barcelo.com at 1, Billabook.com at 1, Evendo at 1, Expedia.com at 1, the hotel's own site at 1 and 1 other site at 1 between them. These are the Rome rows of the study's per-hotel CSV (going_rate_usd and cheapest_usd, before taxes and fees).
On this page, all-in: with taxes and fees included as the sites reported them, at 13 of the 16 hotels listed below a site was 5% or more below the all-in going rate. Taxes and fees at Rome hotels
At the 10 hotels with both an all-in and a before-tax going rate, taxes and fees, as the booking sites reported them to Google Hotels, added a median of 19% ($26 a night) to the before-tax going rate: from 14% at Hotel Lunetta to 36% at Ibis Styles Vintage Hotel Rome. At 6 hotels no site reported a before-tax price, so their prices are listed prices that may leave out resort or property fees. Our data does not split the gap into taxes and fees.
