You get the drop alert
When the going rate is at least 5% lower on two daily checks in a row, you get one email with the new price and where it is. That is the only drop alert for that watch, and every email unsubscribes in one click. If your booking is refundable, that's your cue to rebook lower and cancel the old one.
When watching a hotel price helps
Hotel rates aren't fixed. A hotel repricing a room as its calendar fills or empties is normal, and it happens right up to check-in. The catch is timing: a price drop only helps if you find out while you can still act on it — before a fully-refundable rate's cancellation deadline passes. That's the whole point of a drop alert. You booked; you moved on; Underbook keeps watching.
And a "drop" isn't only the same site getting cheaper. The same hotel, same dates, is often listed for less on a booking site you didn't check (a different wholesale channel, less ad spend), though not always for the same room. Underbook watches for both, and when the room names don't match, it says to check before booking instead of pretending a lookalike is a match.

Often. Hotels reprice constantly based on occupancy, and many rooms are booked on fully-refundable rates. If the price falls before your cancellation deadline, you can rebook lower and cancel the old reservation. The alert is what gets you there in time. Is it free?
Yes. Watching a hotel price and getting drop alerts is free, no account required beyond an email to send the alert to. If you later book through a site Underbook surfaces, it may earn a small commission from that site; you pay nothing extra, and the commission never changes which rates it shows or their order.
