What London hotels cost, by star class

On September 25, 2026, the median all-in going rate by Google Hotels' star class: 5-star hotels $433 (4 hotels); 4-star hotels $266 (8 hotels); 3-star hotels $106 (1 hotel); No star class listed $369 (1 hotel). Per night, for Oct 30 to Nov 1. With this few hotels per class, one hotel moves a median a lot. The going rate is the price the largest number of listings that named a room or offered free cancellation agreed on (ties go to the lower price).

The table counts hotels with all-in prices only; the 3 hotels with a listed price only are in the list below it, marked "listed".

Going rate: all-in where the sites reported taxes and fees, else the listed price. Lowest we recorded: the lowest price among the sites, on the same basis, and the site or sites that had it. Each hotel's page has every site's price.

Taxes and fees in London

On September 25, 2026, taxes and fees added a median of 20.0% ($46 a night) to the before-tax going rate of a London hotel, as the booking sites reported them to Google Hotels. At all 14 hotels with both prices the all-in going rate was 19.8% to 20.5% above the before-tax going rate: close to the same share at a $106 hotel and a $652 one. A flat nightly fee added on top of the before-tax price would be a larger share of a cheaper room, so at these 14 hotels the listings show no such fee added on top; whether a resort fee was already inside the before-tax price, our data cannot tell.

At 3 hotels no site reported a before-tax price, so their listed prices may leave out resort or property fees: Smart Hyde Park View, Lost Property St Paul's London - Curio Collection by Hilton and Rosewood London.

How often a site was 5% or more below the going rate

On September 25, 2026, at 15 of the 17 London hotels a site's price was 5% or more below the hotel's going rate, by a median of 20% ($64 a night). The study's own count, before taxes and fees, from its per-hotel CSV: 15 of the 18 London hotels with a price. The two counts can differ: taxes and fees can move a gap across the 5% line, and the CSV counts hotels priced by fewer than 3 sites too.

A lower price is not always the same deal: it can be a smaller room, a non-refundable rate, or a listing that names no room. Each hotel's page shows which sites named a room.

Which booking sites were lowest most often in London

On September 25, 2026, at the 15 hotels where a site was 5% or more below the going rate, the lowest all-in price was on Super.com at 10, Booking.com at 1, Etrip.net at 1, goseek.com at 1, Kiwi.com at 1, klook at 1, Traveluro at 1 and Vio.com at 1 (a tie counts for each site). By the study's before-tax count, the cheapest site there: Super.com at 10, Booking.com at 1, Kiwi.com at 1, klook at 1, Traveluro at 1 and Vio.com at 1.

Free cancellation at London hotels

On September 25, 2026, at 8 of the 17 hotels at least one site showed Google's free-cancellation label on its lowest listing; at 0 of them the lowest price itself carried it. At the other 8, the lowest price with free cancellation was a median of $67 a night (34%) above the lowest price.

The hotels with the biggest gaps between sites

On September 25, 2026, these London hotels had the widest gap between the lowest and the highest site, per night (all-in where the sites reported taxes and fees, else listed prices):

• Smart Hyde Park View: $55 on Booking.com to $212 on Evendo, 285% above the lowest (17 sites).
• Rosewood London: $743 on klook to $1,876 on Clicktrip.com, 152% above the lowest (22 sites).
• The Hoxton, Southwark: $230 on Traveluro to $479 on Catchit.com, 108% above the lowest (23 sites).
• Kimpton Fitzroy London: $364 on Kiwi.com to $595 on Hotel prive, 63% above the lowest (23 sites).
• Page8 - Page Hotels: $288 on Super.com to $458 on BusinessHotels.com, 59% above the lowest (28 sites).

The highest price is often a different room or rate, so the gap shows how far apart listings were, not a saving. The snapshot kept up to 28 listings per hotel, so higher prices may be missing.

When to book: what our data can and cannot say

Our London prices come from snapshots taken on a few dates, so they cannot tell you the cheapest month to stay in London, or how far ahead to book. They show one stay on one date, every booking site side by side.

What we can show is how the going rate of the same stay moved in one week. In the study's week-later repeats we priced the same stay at the same London hotels twice, 7 days apart (the hotels of the first snapshot of each pair, so not always the hotels above); "up" and "down" count hotels whose before-tax going rate moved more than 2%.

One week of one stay: prices moved both ways, which is not a rule for when to book. Source: hotel-price-week-later-2026-09.csv and hotel-price-week-later-r2-2026-10.csv.
