Los Angeles hotel prices: what 16 hotels cost, measured Sep 25, 2026

On September 25, 2026, the median all-in price of a Los Angeles hotel in our snapshot was $303 a night, for Oct 30 to Nov 1 with 2 adults: the middle of the going rates at the 8 hotels whose sites reported taxes and fees, which ran from $145 to $453.

These are the 16 hotels Google Hotels returned for our search for hotels in Los Angeles, each priced on every booking site it listed (68 sites in all), on one date: not every hotel in Los Angeles, and prices change daily. Among the 25 cities we priced on September 25, 2026 for the same stay, Los Angeles's median was the 2nd highest. At 8 more hotels no site reported a before-tax price, so we have listed prices only ($175 to $515 a night), which may leave out taxes or fees; they are left out of the all-in figures.

Our search was "hotels in Los Angeles", and Google Hotels returned hotels across the Los Angeles area. By their names, 3 of the 16 are near LAX airport and 3 are in Monterey Park, Sherman Oaks or Venice. So the median is the price of this mix of hotels around Los Angeles.

Taxes and fees in Los Angeles

On September 25, 2026, taxes and fees added a median of 16.2% ($43 a night) to the before-tax going rate of a Los Angeles hotel, as the booking sites reported them to Google Hotels. Across the 8 hotels with both prices it ranged from 12.4% to 16.5%, from Lincoln Hotel Monterey Park/Los Angeles to Freehand Los Angeles. Our data does not split the gap into taxes and fees, so it cannot say which part, if any, was a resort or destination fee.

At 8 hotels no site reported a before-tax price, so their listed prices may leave out resort or property fees: Hilton Los Angeles Airport, The Sojourn Los Angeles – Sherman Oaks, Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles Hotel, Hyatt Regency Los Angeles International Airport, Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza, The LINE LA, Cara Hotel and Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown by IHG.

How often a site was 5% or more below the going rate

On September 25, 2026, at 16 of the 16 Los Angeles hotels a site's price was 5% or more below the hotel's going rate, by a median of 17% ($50 a night). The study's own count, before taxes and fees, from its per-hotel CSV: 16 of the 16 Los Angeles hotels with a price.

A lower price is not always the same deal: it can be a smaller room, a non-refundable rate, or a listing that names no room. Each hotel's page shows which sites named a room.

The label is what the listing showed on Google Hotels; read the cancellation terms on the booking page. When it is worth paying for: is free cancellation worth it?

The hotels with the biggest gaps between sites

On September 25, 2026, these Los Angeles hotels had the widest gap between the lowest and the highest site, per night (all-in where the sites reported taxes and fees, else listed prices):

The highest price is often a different room or rate, so the gap shows how far apart listings were, not a saving.

When to book: what our data can and cannot say

Our Los Angeles prices come from snapshots taken on a few dates, so they cannot tell you the cheapest month to stay in Los Angeles, or how far ahead to book. They show one stay on one date, every booking site side by side.

What we can show is how the going rate of the same stay moved in one week. In the study's week-later repeats we priced the same stay at the same Los Angeles hotels twice, 7 days apart (the hotels of the first snapshot of each pair, so not always the hotels above); "up" and "down" count hotels whose before-tax going rate moved more than 2%.

One week of one stay: prices moved both ways, which is not a rule for when to book. Source: hotel-price-week-later-2026-09.csv and hotel-price-week-later-r2-2026-10.csv.

What we found across all cities: do hotel prices drop closer to the date? and how far in advance to book a hotel. If you book a refundable rate, a price drop alert tells you if the price falls later.

How we measured this

One snapshot on September 25, 2026 for Oct 30 to Nov 1, 2 adults, US market, USD. Prices change daily. We searched Google Hotels for hotels in Los Angeles and priced the same stay at each hotel it returned, on every booking site it listed, in US dollars as a US visitor sees them. Each hotel's page has every site's price; the study's per-hotel CSV has the before-tax figures. Method: the hotel price dispersion study.
