Why are IHG hotel prices different on booking sites?
Mostly they match: at 197 of 280 IHG hotels (70%) in our prices of September 25 to October 10, 2026, IHG's own site was within 1% of the lowest big booking site. Gaps of 5% or more came from smaller sites at 108 of 109 hotels, and that listing named the room at only 19.

IHG's own price against the booking sites
In our 16 price snapshots of September 25 to October 10, 2026 (6,620 hotel prices), Google Hotels listed 310 prices at 287 IHG hotels in 170 cities, and IHG's own site beside the booking sites at 307 of 310 (99%). Against the lowest of six big booking sites (Booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, Priceline, Agoda and Trip.com), compared like with like, with the same check for other chains:

- Where a big site was more than 1% below IHG's own site (68 hotels), it was Expedia at 19, Booking.com at 19, Priceline at 12, Hotels.com at 12, Agoda at 5, Trip.com at 1; the gap was typically 2.9%. That listing named the room at 52 of them and carried Google's free-cancellation label at 28.
- Against every listing, small resellers included, IHG's own site was at or below every other at 53 of 286 hotels (19%), and another site was 5% or more lower at 109 of 286 (38%): a site other than the six big ones at 108 of them, most often Vio.com (40), Clicktrip.com (13), Billabook.com (10); that lower listing named a room at 19 of the 109.
So at IHG hotels the big booking sites usually match IHG's own price, and when one is lower it is by a few percent. Against Hilton the direction differs: where the two differed, a big site was the lower one more often at IHG (24% of hotels, against 16% at Hilton) and the hotel's own site less often (5% against 13%). The large gaps come from smaller sites whose listing does not say which room it is.
IHG hotels: the hotels whose name on Google Hotels ends "by IHG" (Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, Candlewood Suites, voco, Staybridge Suites, InterContinental and others); names without it are not counted. Hilton, Marriott and Hyatt: names containing the brand, as on the Hilton page. The hotel's own site is the seller Google Hotels lists under the hotel's exact name. Within 1% and lower or higher by more than 1%, against the lowest of the six on the same tax footing. Each snapshot: the lowest public price each booking site listed on Google Hotels for a US searcher, in US dollars, for a two-night stay, at one moment; not completed bookings, and not member or signed-in prices. Why the same IHG stay can show different prices
Different rates, not one price. The lowest listing on each site can be a different rate: other cancellation terms, breakfast, or another room. Where a big site was lower, its listing carried Google's free-cancellation label at 28 of 68, so compare the terms, not only the number.
Before tax or after. In the US, Google shows "Google will prominently display the total price, which includes the base rate and mandatory non-governmental fees." Taxes can be added later on any site, and the FTC's rule lets "taxes or other government charges" sit outside the first total, so a price before tax and one after can sit side by side. Member prices. Our figures are public prices a signed-out visitor gets; a member price on IHG's site or a Genius price on Booking.com can be lower. ihg.com answered our requests on October 25, 2026 with an error (HTTP 403), so this page does not describe IHG's member rates.
How to compare an IHG price across sites
- Take the total, not the first price, on IHG's site and on each booking site, for the same room, dates and cancellation terms.
- Check a signed-in price on IHG's site if you are a member; count points separately from the price.
- If a small site is much lower, check that its listing names the same room before you book.
- Read the final amount on the last screen before you pay, as on any site.

Mostly they are not: IHG's own site was within 1% of the lowest of six big booking sites at 197 of 280 IHG hotels (70%) in our 16 price snapshots of September 25 to October 10, 2026. Where they differ, the lowest listing can be a different rate (other cancellation terms or room), a price before tax beside one after, or a smaller reseller whose listing names no room.
Is it cheaper to book IHG direct?
Usually it is the same. A big booking site was more than 1% lower at 68 of 280 IHG hotels, typically by 3%, and IHG's own site at 15. A member price on IHG's site, which our public-price data does not include, can be lower.
Which booking site is lower than IHG most often?
Among the six big sites, where one was more than 1% below IHG's own price: Expedia (19 hotels), Booking.com (19), Priceline (12), Hotels.com (12), Agoda (5), Trip.com (1). Among all sites, a listing 5% or more below IHG's own price came most often from Vio.com (40 hotels).
Is a much lower IHG price on a small site real?
It can be, but check it: where another site was 5% or more below IHG's own price, that listing named the room at only 19 of 109 hotels. Open it and match the room and the cancellation terms before you book.
Does IHG show taxes and fees upfront?
Under the FTC rule in force since May 12, 2025, every business selling US hotel rooms, hotel sites and booking sites alike, must include mandatory fees such as a resort fee in the total it shows first; taxes may be added before you pay. We could not read ihg.com on October 25, 2026, so check the total on its last screen.
