Is Billabook legit for hotels?

Billabook is a lesser-known website whose hotel prices show up on Google Hotels, often below the big booking sites, under the banner "wholesale rates for everyone". In our own data it was the cheapest site for 99 hotel prices, most of them in the US and the rest of the Americas. But those cheapest listings never named the room, and its Trustpilot score is 2.7 out of 5. Here is what we measured and how to check a Billabook price before you pay.

How often Billabook is the cheapest hotel listing, and what its price leaves out

Across 15 snapshots taken between September 22 and October 1, 2026, we recorded every booking site's price that Google Hotels showed for the same two-night stay, 6,254 hotel prices in 348 cities. At 4,512 of them some site was 5% or more below the rate most sites agreed on. Billabook was the cheapest site at 84 of those 4,512, eleventh overall and typically 24% below the going rate. Most of its wins were in the Americas: 32 in the US and 30 elsewhere in the Americas (Latin America, the Caribbean and Canada), with 18 in Europe and 4 elsewhere.

The catch: across all 99 times Billabook had the lowest price (including near-ties), its listing named the room 0 times. When Agoda was cheapest it named the room at 264 of 380 hotels; Booking.com at 320 of 396. A price with no room attached may be for the smallest or a non-refundable room, and you cannot tell from the listing. 40 of Billabook's 99 cheapest prices were at independent hotels, the rest at chains.

Before you book a Billabook hotel price, check four things

  • 1. The room. Open the listing and compare the room name and bed type with the room you would book on the hotel's site.
  • 2. The all-in total. Compare the price after taxes and fees, in your own currency, not the headline nightly rate.
  • 3. Who you pay, and the cancellation terms. Before paying, note which company charges your card and how you would change or cancel. A 24% saving on a non-refundable room is a bad trade if your plans might change. See whether free cancellation is worth it.
  • 4. The hotel. After booking, call the hotel with your confirmation number and check it can see the reservation, well before you travel.
