Is CheapTickets legit?
Yes. It is Expedia, at Expedia's prices.
CheapTickets is an Expedia Group site: its terms of service are an agreement with Expedia, Inc. of Seattle. That makes the legitimacy question easy. The price question is easy too: in our data it showed the same price as Expedia.com at 3,510 of the 3,514 hotels where both were listed. Here is what we measured, and what to check before you book.

CheapTickets next to Expedia
At the 3,514 hotels where CheapTickets and Expedia.com were both listed in our 14 price snapshots of September 25 to October 1, 2026, CheapTickets showed the same price at 3,510. Where the two differed on the same tax footing, Expedia.com was lower at 4 and CheapTickets never was. Next to Travelocity it showed the same price at all 3,303 hotels listing both, and next to Orbitz at all 3,295. Which other sites Expedia Group runs, and whether they match: the sites Expedia owns.
How often CheapTickets had the lowest price
In the 14 price snapshots of September 25 to October 1, 2026 that recorded every booking site's price, we priced the same two-night stay at 5,830 hotels in 348 cities on every site Google Hotels listed. CheapTickets was listed at 3,541 of them (1,948 in the US). The study recorded CheapTickets as the lowest price at 5 of them, 1 of those 5% or more below the going rate (16% below). At a further 406 it showed the same price as the listing recorded as lowest (when two sites show the same lowest rate, the study records the one Google listed first). For comparison, some site was 5% or more below the going rate at 4,181 of the 5,830 hotels, and Super.com was recorded as the lowest most often (1,193 hotels).
Its listings carried Google's free-cancellation label at 1,372 of the 3,541 hotels (39%) and named a room at none of them. A price with no room attached may be for the smallest or a non-refundable room, and you cannot tell from the listing.
These are prices from one moment in each snapshot, as Google Hotels showed them (all-in where the site reported taxes and fees, else the nightly rate), not completed bookings. Where two sites' prices differed, we say which was lower only when both were on the same tax footing (both before tax or both after), which we infer from the hotel's going rate with and without taxes, as on trivago vs Expedia. Before you book a CheapTickets price, check four things
- 1. Expedia and one site outside Expedia Group. In our data CheapTickets matched Expedia.com's price at 3,510 of 3,514 hotels, so a third site is where a different price shows up.
- 2. The room. Compare the room name and bed type with the room you would book on the hotel's own site. Its listings in our data never named one.
- 3. The all-in total. Compare the price after taxes and fees, not the headline nightly rate.
- 4. The change and cancellation rules. Its terms say the hotel's rules decide whether you can cancel or change, and CheapTickets may add an administration fee. See whether free cancellation is worth it.

Who owns CheapTickets?
Expedia Group. CheapTickets' terms name Expedia, Inc. as the company you deal with, and the site content is copyright Expedia, Inc., an Expedia Group company.
Is CheapTickets cheaper than Expedia for hotels?
Not in our data. In our 14 price snapshots of September 25 to October 1, 2026, CheapTickets and Expedia.com were both listed at 3,514 hotels, and CheapTickets showed the same price at 3,510 of them.
Can I cancel a CheapTickets hotel booking?
It depends on the hotel's rules for that rate. CheapTickets' terms say you have no automatic right to cancel or change unless the travel provider allows it, the provider may charge a fee, and CheapTickets may add an administration fee, which it tells you about before you go ahead.
