Honest review
Is Kiwi.com legit for hotels?
A real site, run by Vio.com's company. Check the room.
Kiwi.com is best known for flights, but its name also shows up on Google Hotels, often below the big booking sites. Those hotel prices come from Kiwi.com Hotels, a brand operated by FindHotel B.V., the Amsterdam company that launched Vio.com. In our own data it was the cheapest site for 59 hotel prices. But those cheapest listings never named the room. Here is what we measured and how to check a Kiwi.com hotel price before you pay.
We have no affiliate relationship with Kiwi.com. Underbook (built by us) leads with the lowest price it finds, whoever lists it, and says whether it names your room.
The verdict, in plain terms
A real booking site with a named operator. The surprise is who that operator is. Treat its low price as a lead to check: the listing does not say which room it is.
What is true in its favor
- Its prices appear on Google Hotels next to the major booking sites
- Its privacy policy names the operator: FindHotel B.V., Amsterdam, the company that launched Vio.com
- Often low: the cheapest site at 53 hotels 5%+ below the going rate in our data, typically 13% below
Why you should be careful
- Its cheapest listings named the room 0 times out of 59
- Not Kiwi.com's flight company: reviews of Kiwi.com flights say little about its hotel bookings
- Its terms: not all bookings can be cancelled, and it acts only as a facilitator between you and the room provider
- Cancellations go through its confirmation email and support, not the hotel front desk
Company details read from Kiwi.com Hotels' terms and privacy policy, and from vio.com, on September 30, 2026. They can change.
Measured, September 22 to October 1, 2026
How often Kiwi.com is the cheapest hotel listing, and what its price leaves out
Across 15 snapshots taken between September 22 and October 1, 2026, we recorded every booking site's price that Google Hotels showed for the same two-night stay, 6,254 hotel prices in 348 cities. At 4,512 of them some site was 5% or more below the rate most sites agreed on. Kiwi.com was the cheapest site at 53 of those 4,512, fourteenth overall and typically 13% below the going rate: 33 in the US, 15 in Europe and 5 elsewhere.
The catch: across all 59 times Kiwi.com had the lowest price (including near-ties), its listing named the room 0 times. When Agoda was cheapest it named the room at 264 of 380 hotels; Booking.com at 320 of 396; Vio.com, its sister brand, at 99 of 538. A price with no room attached may be for the smallest or a non-refundable room, and you cannot tell from the listing. 18 of Kiwi.com's 59 cheapest prices were at independent hotels, the rest at chains.
These are before-tax prices from one moment in each snapshot, not completed bookings. Method and the CSVs are on our hotel price study.
Before you book a Kiwi.com hotel price, check four things
- 1. The room. Open the listing and compare the room name and bed type with the room you would book on the hotel's site.
- 2. The all-in total. Compare the price after taxes and fees, in your own currency, not the headline nightly rate.
- 3. When you pay, and the cancellation terms. Kiwi.com Hotels takes some bookings prepaid and some pay-at-the-hotel; note which, and how you would cancel. A 13% saving on a non-refundable room is a bad trade if your plans might change. See whether free cancellation is worth it.
- 4. The hotel. After booking, call the hotel with your confirmation number and check it can see the reservation, well before you travel.
Underbook (built by us) is a free browser extension that does the first two for you while you shop. On a hotel page it shows other booking sites' prices for the same hotel and dates side by side, and says whether a cheaper listing names the same room or needs a check before you book. We earn nothing from Kiwi.com.
Kiwi.com: common questions
Is Kiwi.com legit for hotels?
Yes, it is a real booking site, but it is not the Kiwi.com you may know from flights. The hotel prices listed as "Kiwi.com" on Google Hotels come from Kiwi.com Hotels, which its own privacy policy describes as a brand operated by FindHotel B.V. of Amsterdam, the company that launched Vio.com. Its terms say it acts as a facilitator of bookings and payments between you and the room provider, and that not all bookings can be cancelled. Treat a low price as a lead to check: in our data its cheapest hotel listings never named the room.
Why is Kiwi.com cheaper for some hotels?
In our price snapshots from September 22 to October 1, 2026 Kiwi.com was the cheapest site at 53 hotels where some site was 5% or more below the going rate, typically 13% below: 33 in the US, 15 in Europe and 5 elsewhere. At none of the 59 times it had the lowest price did its listing name the room, so you cannot tell from the listing whether it is the same room other sites are pricing.
Is Kiwi.com Hotels the same company as Vio.com?
Both are run by FindHotel B.V.: Kiwi.com Hotels' privacy policy names FindHotel B.V. as its operator, and Vio.com says it launched in 2016 as FindHotel. Kiwi.com's flight bookings are a different company, Kiwi.com s.r.o. in Prague, so reviews of Kiwi.com flights tell you little about its hotel bookings.
What should I check before booking a Kiwi.com hotel price?
Check whether you pay now or at the hotel, compare the room name and the all-in total with the hotel's own site, and read the cancellation terms shown before you book. After booking, call the hotel with your confirmation number, well before you travel.
How do I compare a Kiwi.com hotel price with other sites?
Underbook is a free browser extension that shows every site's price for your hotel and dates side by side and says whether the cheaper listing names your room. You can also check a hotel on underbook.co without installing anything.
